On a Tuesday night in Stoke...

One of the clichรฉs in football when a good player or team is being evaluated is "could they do it on a Tuesday night in Stoke?".

Over the last few years, online football fans have documented historical results of their respective clubs, including Stoke, so we've examined these records to find out exactly who did it, failed to do it and nearly did it on a Tuesday night in Stoke? For the sake of argument, we've only examined Stoke's games in the post-war era.

Winners
Oldham, Liverpool, West Ham, Cardiff, Derby, and Fulham have all come away from the Victoria ground, or the Britannia stadium with two wins since the end of World War II. Oldham's record is the most impressive, having never lost on the second day of the working week with a record of two wins and two draws. The Latics are also the only team with three or more Tuesday night fixtures not to have at least one loss to Stoke.

Losers
Sunderland are clearly the biggest losers having only come away with a single victory in their six visits to Stoke after travelling the three hour, 300km journey from the Stadium of Light to the Britannia Stadium. No other team has more than three losses, with Fulham, Ipswich, Leeds, and Wolves sharing second spot.

Nearly Teams
West Brom are the nearly men of the stereotypical night in Stoke, having come close to beating their near rivals on three occasions that finished all square, which means that (along with two losses) the Baggies are the only team with more four or more appearances at Stoke on a Tuesday not to have won at least one game.
